KA2 - REACH Researching European And Cultural Heritage to Share

Monday, 28 November 2022 - Friday 2 December 2022 R. E. A. C. H. To SHARE, 4rd mobility to Potrugal. Our school's ERASMUS+ team consisting of 4 students and 2 teachers participated in the mobility of the program "ERASMUS+ KA2 - REACH Researching European And Cultural Heritage to Share"in Portugal. Host school was Escola Secundaria Dr. Augusto Cesar da Silva Ferreira in Lisbon.


Sunday November 27th 2022:

Portugal welcomed us with a rainbow. A very good omen for our Erasmus mobility !

Visiting our Portuguese Erasmus partner's school. Dancing brings students from different countries and cultures together.
Later we were shown around the Portuguese school. We were a little envious of the facilities...

Palacio da Villa in Sintra: Classified as an hybrid building, the summer palace bears elements of of an Islamic past and various European cultures. It is the best-preserved medieval royal residence in Portugal and a a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Lisbon: Jeronimos Monastery( Unesco site), a walk around the city and later dinner for all the partners at Rio Maior. Great weather, beautiful sites, new friends snd wonderful memories for all of us.

Cloudy and later rainy day today but our mood was sunny! First, we visited the picturesque village of Obidos, later the Monastery of Alcobaca and then off we went to Nazare to finish the day's activities listening to the roar of the Atlantic!

Today we visited the Convento de Christo: seat of the Templar Knights and a Unesco World Heritage monument. Later we were overwhelmed by the grandiose Mosterio da Batalha built in Gothic style and one of the masterpieces of Portuguese architecture. Also a Unesco World Heritage Monument it also houses the Monument to Unknown Soldiers, a tribute to the fallen heroes of World War I.

A visit to a Roman villa in Rio Maior discovered in 1983. The excavations brought to light mosaic panels which are being carefully restored. In the evening the closing ceremony at the Escola Secundaria Dr. Augusto Cesar da Silva Ferreira, our host school followed by a party at the premises.Later we said our (at times tearful) goodbyes.
All of us, students and teachers of the 2nd Gerakas Senior High School, are looking forward to welcoming all our partners in Athens in March.
